What are the CIM Interventions? The Comprehensive Intervention Model is not a scripted program; it is a theoretical framework for implementing evidence-based practices aligned with the processing continuums of change in students’ literacy behaviors over time. It includes a portfolio of six small-group interventions for kindergarten through secondary school. What is the goal of the CIM Advanced Study Series? A three-day intervention training provides the foundation; Advanced Study supports deeper learning through implementation, study, reflection, and collaboration. This study helps teachers address real instructional challenges as they begin implementing the CIM. What does the Advanced Study Series include? The series includes four Zoom sessions throughout the school year, including: *Study of CIM theory and current research to deepen understanding of intervention teaching. *Observation and analysis of CIM lessons, with opportunities to examine teaching decisions and student responses and to provide feedback. *Examination of student data and learning over time to inform instructional decisions. *Problem-solving around factors affecting intervention outcomes, including how to respond when students are not making expected progress or when students within a group have differing intervention needs. *Planning next steps based on evidence of student learning and professional judgment. Who Should Participate? The CIM Advanced Study Series is designed for literacy coaches, interventionists, teachers, and instructional leaders who have completed—or are currently enrolled in—training in the revised CIM interventions. This is not initial intervention training. It is an opportunity to move from knowing an intervention to developing the professional knowledge and judgment needed to use it responsively with students. Extending the Learning Through 1:1 Coaching Participants seeking more individualized support can arrange half-day or full-day coaching with a CIM trainer, either on-site or virtually. Coaching may include observing lessons, analyzing student data and work, planning instruction, reflecting on teaching, and problem-solving for specific students or groups.
